Punting on the Avon

Punting on the Avon

Have you ever been stuck in a time warp? Well we narrowly escaped one. Running slowly through the city of Christchurch is the Avon river which has been the site of many romantic boat rides since the time of Napoleon. The river is quite slow moving and the boats travel along the river being propelled by hand.. punts actually. The punt boats are flat bottom gondolas where a punter stands on the platform at the rear and uses a long stick called a punt to propel and steer the boat.
