Hawaiian School

Aug 27, 2009
Home schooling is in full swing. The kids have to get up every morning at 6:30 – 7:00am, grab a snack and are ready to start for 7:30a. They work straight through until 10:30-11:00 and then they get the balance of the day off. They return to do some reading in the evenings after dinner. I think this is the least amount of TV my kids have ever experienced. Another thing we are noticing is how much work they can accomplish in 3-4 hours when they concentrate. They have all completed their September curriculum in the first week. Amazing what a little motivation and can do. Tracie however would likely say that some of the motivation is that they don’t get yelled at for sloughing off. Either way it works.
Christopher can’t wait to finish his schoolwork everyday so that he can go to the surf shop and pick up his 9 foot board and head down to the beach with all the locals and surf the afternoon away. His finest ride was when he caught a 12 foot wave and it was as he said the “most exhilarating thing I’ve ever done, it was like I was floating on air. I can’t imagine skydiving could feel this good.”
