Home Schooling, Teaching parents what they missed in Grade School

Aug 20-21, 2009
School is driving me nuts. We thought we had a handle on it but we were wrong. The amount of work in these correspondence courses is ridiculous. They are all technological based and since we have only one computer operating at the moment on a broadband stick. The kids have to do their work in shifts. The time difference means that there is no one awake in Calgary when they are on line so needless to say Tracie, Stan and I have been working as surrogate teachers everyday. Each kid is trying to do 6 hours of schoolwork in about 3 hours and are falling behind everyday. They have to work 7 days a week and even then they are never caught up. I hated school the first time through and now we get to repeat grades 10,9, 7, and 5 all over again. Let’s just say that if this was not a family blog the language would be a lot more colourful right now.
In any event we only have a few days left here in Cairns and I will miss it. It truly is paradise up here.
